African STARS Fellowship – Digital Handbook Design

( Resumé )

Designing the African STARS Fellowship Handbook was about more than formatting information — it was about shaping an experience. The handbook serves as a digital companion for fellows arriving in Dakar, guiding them through an intense academic and cultural journey. My goal was to make this experience feel intuitive, empowering, and distinctly African. The layout is built on a clear modular grid, ensuring that long-form content remains accessible and easy to navigate. I focused on visual pacing — alternating between dense informational spreads and open, airy pages that give the reader space to breathe. The color palette, typography, and motifs are drawn directly from the CARE-IPD visual identity, reinforcing institutional consistency while adding warmth and humanity. CARE’s signature orange hue anchors key highlights, symbolizing energy and optimism, while subtle blue tones balance it with professionalism and calm. Interactive elements such as QR codes and visual markers were integrated seamlessly into the layout, making navigation between digital and physical touchpoints effortless. These details not only enhance usability but also extend the fellowship’s digital ecosystem beyond the page. The overall tone of the design is educational yet aspirational — a visual dialogue between structure and inspiration. It reflects the fellowship’s essence: a program rooted in science, collaboration, and the belief that Africa’s next generation of innovators can reimagine public health on their own terms.
